Answer Plot is the largest independent research system in the United States.  They take great pride in saying its data all "local".  The information gathered is not two states away or average across several counties.  They have planted 190 plots all throughout the nation with a goal of over 200 in 2012.  Answer Plot spends 20 million dollars on these plots for Croplan Genetics. 

In 2011, Holloway, MN was selected to host one of these Answer Plot Knowledge Events.  Anwser Plot Knowledge Events consist of 3 sessions throughout the summer.  The Answer Plot sessions are staffed with Answer Plot Experts who look forward to your questions.

These plots test different corn hybrids against different factors such as drought, fertilizer responses, plant populations and a combinations of these together, along with spraying techniques and foliar-fed nutrients.  Working together with Answer Plot are Monsanto, Croplan, NK and Mycogen seed companies.

The soybean plots are testing the advantages and disadvantages of each variety, new trait package, and also seed treatments and foliar feed fertilizers.  The biggest comparison this year has been the differences between Generation 1 RR2Y beans and the new Generation 4 RR2Y beans.

Session 1 spends time on addressing early season issues such as emergence, seedling vigor and other issues showing up in the fields.  They also explain tissue sampling and the importance of it.  No sales, just agronomics.

Session 2 involves midseason plant issues and follow up on tissue sampling.  Monsanto talks technology.  Once again, no sales just agronomics.

Session 3 involves a talk about the growing season in review and agronomic issues to watch out for.  Croplan, Monsanto and NK agronomists are on hand to position their products.  This is also the time they take a look at the roots and ears and determine the optimum planting dates.
