MORNING COMMENTS
Friday June 13th
Corn +4
July futures remain choppy and trading between its 10-day and 20-day moving averages. US corn export sales for new and old crop struggled this week, and the WASDE report yesterday did not provide any support for the corn markets. Farmer selling is quiet, so we have seen some basis improvements this week. CONAB increased their Brazil corn estimate to 128.3 MMT vs. their previous estimate of 126.9 MMT. The Buenos Aires Grain Exchange reported Argentina’s corn harvest at 47% complete vs. 44% last week.
Beans +22
Bean futures are trading higher this morning due to strength from bean oil. November 25 futures are trading above all its moving averages this morning. Bean meal is trading lower this morning while bean oil is pulling strength from crude oil. There were no changes on the bean balance sheet in yesterday’s WASDE report. Beans processors continue to roll their bids to November futures.
Spring Wheat +7 & Winter Wheat +2
Mpls and KC July 25 futures were trading higher on the overnight. Mpls July 25 futures are trading above all its averages. KC July 25 futures are trading between its 10-day and 20-day moving averages. Just like corn and beans, the WASDE report had no impact on the wheat markets. Most of the upper Midwest and Canada are looking at high chances for rain over the next two weeks. Wheat harvest go fired up in Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas this week.
